Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s baby girl’s adorable name has been revealed in the most recent court documents.
The identity of the couple’s second daughter, born in July 2022, has been kept secret because of their bitter divorce. Their 14-month-old daughter has been referred to as “D” in recent court records, but Page Six has learned that her real name is Delphine.
The French and Greek roots of the name, which is pronounced “del-feen,” come from the Greek word for dolphin and a French phrase meaning “of the womb.”
The 27-year-old star of “Game of Thrones” and the 34-year-old singer are now at odds over the custody of their daughters, Delphine and Willa, age 3.
Documents filed in New York and obtained by PEOPLE show that the exes have temporarily agreed to keep their daughters in the state.
After fighting in Miami and English courts for custody, Turner and Jonas have agreed to an interim consent order that requires them to raise their children in the southern and eastern districts of New York. This encompasses the five boroughs of New York City as well as Long Island and the Hudson Valley.
In the event of a violation of the order, both parties agree that the court may “take or cause to be taken measures under Federal or State law, as appropriate, to protect the well-being of the child involved or to prevent the child’s further removal or concealment before the final disposition of the petition.”
Turner filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband Jonas last week, alleging that he was wrongfully keeping the couple’s two girls in the United States by refusing to release their passports.
The case filed against Jonas demanded “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained,” with Turner’s legal team claiming the “wrongful retention” started on September 20.
As they prepared for the next year, Turner said she and the musician discussed making England their “forever home” over the Christmas holidays of 2022.
Jonas made a statement shortly after Turner filed her case, in which he denied her allegations and claimed that he and Turner had agreed to work on a co-parenting plan.
According to the statement, Joe filed for divorce from Sophie in Florida after having many talks with Sophie about the matter and determining that Florida was the proper jurisdiction. “To Joe, “Sophie knew he was going to file for divorce. The Florida court has already issued an injunction prohibiting either parent from moving with the kids. Sophie received this order more than two weeks ago, on September 6, 2023”.
A “cordial meeting” was held, and “Joe’s impression” was that they had established an “amicable co-parenting setup,” according to the statement, but then “Sophie advised that she wanted to take the children permanently to the UK less than 24 hours later.” After that, she used this document to demand that Joe give her the children’s passports so that she could quickly remove them from the country.
Jonas and Turner were married in 2019 after dating for almost three years. When they decided to break their four-year marriage, they issued a joint statement on their own social media pages.
